Dr. Detlev Häusler holds a PhD in Physics from the Max-Planck-Institute for Fluid Dynamics and the University of Göttingen. Following a Post-Doc research project at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, he started his professional career as a process engineer at Siemens Semiconductors.
In 1989 he joined McKinsey & Co. where he served clients in the life science, electronics, pulp and paper and semiconductor industry. He focused on technology assessment, strategy development, innovation processes, and sales force effectiveness.
1996 he assumed the leadership of the business unit for opto-electronic modules of Carl Zeiss Jena. He managed to turn around the business unit by streamlining the portfolio and focusing on growth areas.

From 1996 to 2004 Dr. Häusler managed the Optics Division of the Swiss high tech group Unaxis. He reoriented the division towards life science and displays, developed new products with clear differentiation and built up sales channels in Asia. Thanks to proprietary coating technologies entry barriers for the competition were set up and double digit margins were achieved. In this position Dr. Häusler managed a team of 500 employees including 25 product and process engineers.
Since 2004 Dr. Häusler works as an independent management consultant. He serves clients especially in the solar, semiconductor, and machine tool industry as well as in the field of nanotechnology. As a business angel Dr. Häusler supported two start ups in the industrialization of their ideas. |
